I have been a psychoanalyst and psychotherapist for over 30 years. Since the pandemic began, I’ve been working remotely – by phone, FaceTime, and Zoom, first from NYC and more recently from Northern Westchester.  I see patients in individual therapy as well as in groups and couples or family therapy. I especially love working as a supervisor and consultant to younger therapists. More recently I’ve expanded my practice to collaborative work with educators whose students are bright, talented and psychologically complex.

Over the years I’ve moved more and more toward an integrative approach to psychological healing.  I originally trained as a clinical social worker at Columbia University.  I then pursued advanced training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, group therapy, and supervision of the analytic process. For many years, as a therapist, supervisor, clinical instructor and training analyst, talk therapy was the mainstay of my work.  However, over time, I’ve learned that sometimes pain cannot be relieved by words and understanding alone.

I’ve been continuously expanding my therapeutic repetoire as I’ve come to understand that much suffering is beyond the reach of words. So I encourage patients to explore other therapeutic approaches, including mindfulness meditation,  mindfulness based stress reduction therapy (MBSR),  mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT) hypnotherapy, somatic therapies, like acupuncture, and yoga.
